Soviet Mountaineer: Making Progress

Well, I'm making slow progress on the Soviet Mountaineer from Young Miniatures. As you can see, I'm pretty much finished with the face and jacket, but with everything else, I'm about halfway there.

For the goggles, I want to paint the reflections of mountaintops against the horizon. I have the basic reflection gradient painted, and the mountains will come later.

Basic hilights and shadows are down on the backpack and leather, but there is plenty of texture in need  paint.

I've spent most of my time working on the rope, which is proving to be one heckuva challenge. It still needs lots of work, but it's getting there... slowly.

  1. Kyle, he is beautiful, even without the reflections you are considering for his goggles. He reminds me of Robert Shaw in The Battle of the Bugle. And the rope is outstanding.

Of course he could look like crap in person. (Just kidding)
